A collection of pus in a cavity consisting of spent white cells and dead invading micro-organisms. An abscess may appear on any part of the body i.e. ear, nose, throat, teeth, gums, rectum etc. Discharge of pus. Fever, malaise and swollen glands. The body's fight against infection may result in supperation (the formation of pus).
