Hay Fever. Inflammation of mucous membranes of the nose. Attacks of sneezing, nasal discharge and blocked nose. May include conjunctivitis, sore throat and deafness from obstruction in the Eustahian tubes. Cause may be a wide range of allergens from house dust, pollen (in May and June) , food additives , colourings in foods and drinks. May also be accompanied by nasal polyps.
Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the bronchial tubes (airways).
This causes swelling and tightening of the airways making it difficult for the sufferer to breathe.
This results in the characteristic wheeze.
