A chronic pathological illness chiefly affecting the nervous and gastroenteric systems characterised by mental disturbance, muscular incoordination and eventually cirrhosis of the liver. Increased fat in liver cells. Alcoholic hepatitis (jaundice). Intestinal bleeding, fluid retention, kidney failure. Habitual excessive consumption of alcohol leading to dependence.
